Preview: Lo Scarabeo Tarot

Asso Di Coppe064-1I'm really blessed to be working on the Lo Scarabeo Tarot -- the flagship deck for one of the world's most prolific Tarot deck publishers. The concept -- developed by the Lo Scarabeo team -- was to create a deck by fusing elements from the three most influential decks in history: the Waite-Smith, the Thoth, and the Tarot de Marseille.

On each card of the Lo Scarabeo Tarot, you'll spy visual "tributes" to the other decks ... plus new elements we've introduced to keep the deck fresh and surprising. This is the most "mystical" or esoteric deck I've worked on to date, and I think the Tarot community at large will really love the light, detailed watercolor images that illustrate each card.

The EOS "Tarot"

Eos-TarotOkay, so the EOS Tarot isn't really a Tarot deck at all ... but the EOS Tarot application at the Volkswagon website is probably the coolest, slickest, web-based card reading applications I've ever seen.

Get a free reading today. Purchasing a Volkswagon EOS afterward is entirely optional, of course!

Reading Practice: What Options Can You See?

(Editor's Note: This is the first of a series of posts that invite you to participate in problem-solving with the Bright Idea Deck. Read the situation. Study the cards. When you're ready, post your ideas to the comments section, and let's see what solutions our collective insight will generate!)

Your friend, Anna Beth, tells you she's really unhappy with her job. She wants to break free and do something else, but she's having terrible trouble coming up with a way to find other opportunities. She needs your help to come up with a way to find the courage and energy to leave one job and find another.

With her needs in mind, you come up with a simple four-card spread:

1 - Something Anna Beth needs to know before taking action
2 - A first step toward finding a new job
3 - A first step toward leaving her current job
4 - A sign that it's time to make the transition

You shuffle your Bright Idea Deck, and draw the following cards ...

Tarot, Katrina, and Jackson Square

Getting your Tarot cards read in New Orleans' Jackson Square was a ritual -- one of those authentic, local-color activities you simply had to do. Almost every client I read for here in Jackson has, at one time or another, sat down opposite a Jackson Square reader. Whether you loved them or hated them, admired them or considered them to be con artists, the street readers of Jackson Square added an undeniable dash of color, spirituality, and New Age mysticism to the melange that is New Orleans.

And now, for the most part, they're gone.

Mona Lisa Tarot

Monalisa1000

Not long ago, the folks at Lo Scarabeo approached me with an idea: would I be willing to help develop a Mona Lisa Tarot?

"Hmmm," I thought. "An entire deck, based on a single painting?" My main fear was that the deck would be too repetitive, or that, after hours and hours of research, we would discover the background material wasn't rich enough to support the development of an entire deck. I was also having a great deal of trouble grasping the concept: what, exactly, did my Italian friends want to see in a Mona Lisa Tarot?

Coincidence, Synchronicity, and the Brain

One morning, your order at Starbucks comes to $4.45. Then, you notice that your next appointment happens to be at 445 Oswald Street. There, your client tells you there's been a 44.5% increase in web traffic since last year. Later, you get a cell phone call -- from area code 445. It's actually your partner, who tells you to remember to pick up the kids at ... 4:45 PM.

What's up with all those 4-4-5's? To find out more, read on!

Is Tarot Certification for You?

At first, the idea of certifying Tarot readers sounds like a good idea. In theory:

- certification should help clients distinguish professional practitioners from gifted amateurs, dedicated hobbyists, and scam artists.

- certified Tarot readers should possess a level of knowledge, experience, or skill unmatched by the uncertified masses.

- certification should offer Tarot readers a degree of professional legitimacy at least equal to that possessed by massage therapists or clinical hypnotists.

Are any of the Tarot certification programs now accepting fees and awarding titles worth your consideration? With this article in hand, you can decide for yourself whether Tarot certification is right for you -- by asking the Top Ten Questions you should ask before pursuing Tarot certification.

A Daily Draw can help Get Things Done

Most mornings, I draw a single Tarot card. As I meditate on meanings and applications, I invariably see familiar cards in new and exciting ways.
